The brief
Knees are the placement clients fear most — thin skin, constant motion, famously spicy. This client wanted a classic black-and-grey rose anyway, so Wren designed one that uses the kneecap as the bloom's centre, petals opening with the joint.
Two short sessions instead of one long one, thorn stems trailing down the shin to balance the composition. Healed, the grey settled soft and the blacks stayed exactly where the joint needs them.
